LOS ANGELES –Seven (7) nations will be represented in the Parade of Nations section of the County Parade on County Day at the L.A. County Fair next Sunday, September 12, at the Fairplex in Pomona.
In alphabetical order they are:
ARGENTINA, which will be represented by members of the Ballet Juvenil de Folklore y Tango de la Asociación Argentina de Los Angeles (AALA);
BELIZE, which will be represented by members of the Consortium for Belizean Development and the Elegant Flair Dance Company in Los Angeles. They will be marching to taped music from Belize;
GERMANY, which will be represented by members of “Die Gemütlichen Schuhplattler,” which is dedicated to traditional Bavarian “shoe slapping,” a courting dance. The group has appeared in the Rose Parade, television commercials and German cultural events in Southern California;
INDONESIA, which will be represented by members of the Indonesian and Indonesian-American communities in Los Angeles, in traditional dress from numerous ethnic groups;
KENYA, which will be represented by members of the Kenyan Consulate and community in Los Angeles. They will appear in traditional Kikuyu, Luo and Meru dress;
KOREA, which will be represented by members of the Korean Tea Ritual Association of LA , presented by the Korean Cultural Center of Los Angeles, who will march in “Hanbok,” or traditional Korean dress;
NEW ZEALAND, which will be represented by members of Whanau Toa, which means “Happy Family” in English. They will march in traditional Maori dress.
The Parade of Nations will be part of the 2010 Los Angeles County Day at the Fair parade on Sunday, September 12, at the L.A. County Fair fairplex grounds, 1101 W. McKinley Avenue, Pomona 91768 from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m. Great visuals
